CrossFit is high intensity functional movement that prepares us for the unknown and unknowable. We are happy to announce a new way for you to further explore those core aspects of the sport you already know and love with the introduction of…Crossfit Striking.
Starting this January, Arenal Fitness will be offering a four session Foundations of Striking course that will incorporate a wide variety of strikes and techniques. The skills you take away from this will not only build strength and stamina but just as importantly confidence in your abilities should you ever need to use them.
Each session consists of instruction on proper technique, practice, drills, and culminates with a WOD incorporating traditional CrossFit with your new skill set. There is no sparring involved in this course. We utilize focus mitts and kick shields, which allow us to hone techniques and perform at full intensity. MMA/Bag gloves are highly recommended. The preferred glove is an open handed style that allows for free movement of the fingers to allow for gripping of barbells, pull up bars, kettlebells, etc. They can be purchased for less than $30 at major sporting goods stores or online at sites like Amazon. The ability to deliver powerful well placed strikes is as functional as movement gets. Build confidence in your abilities to use it.
