I work so hard in the gym. Why am I not losing weight?
While we may be making changes to our body composition by hitting it hard in the gym, if we aren’t making the adjustments to our nutrition, we may not be reaching the goals that we desire.
People may often use exercise as a reward for bad behavior. You worked hard in the gym, so now you can reward yourself with that big dinner, drinks, or dessert. The reality is, those calories all add up and may be what’s preventing you from reaching your goals.
Speaking from my own experiences, a few years ago, I noticed that I was getting a little thicker, and my clothes weren’t fitting as well as they used to. I was still working out as much as I always did, but was gaining weight. I decided to work with a coach following my macronutrients. I was assigned a number of proteins, fat, and carbohydrates for my age, gender, weight, and activity level and then hit those numbers each day by tracking what I was eating in My Fitness Pal. You have all seen my progress and I truly have never felt better (except for being cold all of the time ). I have been in “maintenance” for the last year and a half and now eat more food than I was eating before I began this process – I am just eating the proper balance of foods.
