Q. What made you decide to try CrossFit? A. A trainer from another gym noticed that I liked lifting weights.  She suggested I try CrossFit because CrossFit has an extensive weight lifting program.  It wasn’t until I found the Groupon that I actually signed up. Q. What is your favorite CrossFit/training moment to date? A. The “Atlas” stone is my favorite training exercise. Q. What is your CrossFit/training goal? A. My goal is to do a Kipping pull-up. Q. What was your proudest CrossFit/training moment? A. When I realized I could deadlift 170 lbs. Q. What was the toughest hurdle when you got started? A. Sticking with it!  When I started the program I had three children under the age of three years.  It was very easy to come up with excuses not to go to the gym. Q. What is the toughest hurdle for you right now? A. Sticking with it!  I now have three children under the age of four.  It is still hard to stick with it but now I see and feel the differences in my body. Training is not easy but it is very rewarding. Q. What keeps you going in a workout when you sometimes want to quit? A. My trainer, Susan Simpson keeps me going.  When I want to quit, she encourages me to keep going and to try something new.  Susan helps me to set new objectives or redefine existing goals so I can move forward. I want to send out extra kudos to my husband, as well.  He not only encourages me to do what is important to me but also takes the EARLY morning shift with the kids.  Thank you, Robb. Q. What is your favorite thing to do outside of training at Arenal Fitness? A. Outside of spending time with my family, my favorite thing is getting a massage with Jennifer Ayres.  Jennifer not only gives a great massage but she communicates to my trainer what areas of my body need additional work. Q. What is your favorite part of Arenal Fitness? A. Friendly!  Everyone from the trainers and staff to the people using the gym, they are friendly and encouraging.  It isn’t always easy but look around and someone will be there to help. Q. Any advice for new members? A. Do not be intimidated!  When you first walk into the gym it is very intimidating to see the wide array of equipment and people lifting mega weights.  My advice would be to get with a trainer that makes you feel comfortable and can help you set reasonable personal goals. Q. How has your training program at Arenal Fitness changed your life? A. The program has not changed my life as much as enhanced my life.  The training program develops the body and develops a different way of thinking.  It boosts self confidence. It is vital to me that I teach my daughter that it is not important that a woman may or may not wear a size 0.   It is important that you do what you need to do to keep your body in shape, keep your mind active and feel pride in yourself.]]>
