CrossFit Level 1 Certified Instructor, CrossFit Olympic Lifting Certified Instructor
I have always been interested in fitness. I took a number of advanced health and fitness courses during college, and in one course, the instructor challenged us to a walking handstand contest for distance. He had only been beaten by students a couple of times in his tenure, and I was determined to beat him. I succeeded.
After college I exercised in various “globo” gyms, and did the standard types of exercises you’d see that are geared toward building bulk muscle. I did nothing for metabolic conditioning, so I turned into what you’d consider a “meathead.” I discovered CrossFit three years ago and signed up for a free demo workout. I was winded during the warm-up! I proceeded with the demo workout and thought I would die. I knew from that moment that I hated CrossFit – and yet I loved CrossFit.
Three years later, I am a Certified CrossFit Trainer. I have competed in the Mid-Atlantic Hopper Challenge in 2009, 2010 and 2011. In 2011 I placed 5th in the Men’s Masters Division. I love coaching CrossFit and seeing how it changes people’s lives. CrossFit is not just about exercise, it is about challenging yourself. There is no “can’t” in CrossFit. There is only “not yet.”
