  Sakamoto made her individual debut at the 2011 CrossFit Games NorCal Regional, where she finished third, earning her a spot in the 2011 CrossFit Games. Sakamoto ended up finishing 9th overall in that year’s CrossFit Games, earning her several sponsors such as Reebok and Trigger point. Sakamoto was also awarded Spirit of the CrossFit Games that year. In 2012, Sakamoto returned to the CrossFit Games, taking second place at the NorCal regional, and finishing at 23rd place overall. Sakamoto qualified for the 2013 NorCal Regional and finished in the top three there to qualify for the CrossFit Games, where she finished in fifth place.
